Editing our Music video

Today in class we started editing our music video. We begun the process by looking over all of our shots. We started by choosing a few of the clips of me playing with the dog. We really liked a few of them and decided to use them. We looked at those first because we wanted to go in order with our story board. After we decided on the few shots of those we wanted to keep we moved on. Next we looked at the shots where I begin to neglect the dog. These scenes are important because they show the dog’s motives for running away. We looked over a few and we chose a few of me watching tv and one with the dog running away. I thought these turned out really well.
We then moved on and chose the shots for the rest of the video. We looked at the scenes where I look for her and when she gets back. After we were done with narrowing down the takes to just a couple for each shot we put them onto the editing software. It was around this time that one of our class mates told us that we were using the computer with their video on it. We gave them the computer since we hadn’t started yet and got a new computer. We put all of the shots we had selected on the editing software. It took a while for the software to begin working. After about 15 minutes we could finally start. We put the shots in order on AV track 2 and started cutting down the clips. A lot of the clips had extra footage so we definitely needed to shorten them.
It took a few minutes before we finished cutting down the clips. Once we were done we noticed that our video was too long. We needed to cut our some clips to shorten the video. We chose one of me neglecting her because we had already established that by then. We then started adding special effects. We added a few but not enough to make it too much. There were some zooms and we are considering adding a black and white filter on some shots at the beginning. We will decide on that later. We are almost done editing the video, we downloaded the song and added it on AV track 3. Kyle did a great job editing and we will finish soon.

Filming Blog 2

Last week me and my group mate Kyle recorded our music video. We ended up being very happy with the results at the time. We have yet to look very closely over the footage as of now. However we plan to do so this week. We will have to look over all of the footage and edit it into a cohesive story. It will be interesting to see how the clips really turned out. Over this past week was Thanksgiving, so i was very happy we got our filming done because we may not have time over the next few weeks. Filming was a fun and interesting experience and I am glad we did it. We recorded the weekend before for almost all of Saturday. The only real issue we ran into was the camera's battery.
When we recorded, we used my dog, Daisy, as the pet being talked about in the song. We recorded scenes with me playing with her and petting her. Daisy represents Gary in the song. I am Spongebob in a sense. We then recorded me neglecting her with video games TV, and a phone. She then "runs away." I had to look for her after this. My character put u posters and looked for her all around. He then got really sad thinking she was gone for good. It was then that he hears a knock at the door.
At the door is Daisy, who came home. This video was fun to record. We followed out story board very closely when doing it as well. We will be editing it to be as sad and dramatic as possible. I most likely won't be editing since Kyle is a very good editor. We likely wont need more shots, but it is possible. If we do we will borrow a camera this week and get the few shots we need. If not we should be finished this week. I am very excited to see how it turns out. I think it will be very good.
